Arsenal went into the match after a promising win over Marseille in midweek Champions League match and although Stoke looked promising early on, the Gunners never really allowed them to settle down.
Arsenal scored three goals tonight, and surprisingly all the three came from set pieces and all of them were provided by Mesut Ozil who made his home debut.
Aaron Ramsey scored the opener from a shot saved by Begovic which landed on to the Welsh man’s path. While Stoke’s Cameron equalised soon after, defenders Per Mertesacker and Bacary Sagna got onto the score sheet to give the Gunners a promising 3-1 win.
Talking to the press after the game, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger as you would expect heaped praise on Mesut Ozil’s outstanding home debut.
And when asked about Walcott’s situation, Wenger as quoted by the BBC said:
“Like the team he gave a lot on Wednesday night (against Marseille), but he showed his class today and he worked hard as well.”
Aaron Ramsey took to Twitter to express his feelings after Arsenal achieved the top position in the Premier League table:
“It is a bit mysterious because we don’t really know what it is.”
